"The story centers on Alex Walker, an employee of an intergalactic corporation in the field of creating new worlds. He works as a planetary engineer 42 light years from Earth on a planet Miranda. The planet is terraforming - process of deliberately modifying its atmosphere, temperature and surface to be similar to the environment of Earth. Now Alex is alone on an abandoned base. The planet is geologically unstable and the base becoming deadly trap. Why terraforming of Miranda failed? What happened to the crew and why is Alex the only one on the base?"
